Michelle Windley, Paralegal and co-founder of Windley Ely, applies over 20 years experience in the workers’ compensation field to develop customer specific programs for workplace injury management and early and safe return to work. In addition, Michelle puts her Alternative Dispute Resolution/Mediation Certification into practice specializing in complex case management and collaborative case resolution. Where positive results are not achieved through case management, Michelle has extensive experience representing customers at both board and tribunal hearings.
Sam Ely, Paralegal, co-founded Windley Ely with his vision of an efficient, customer service oriented and cost effective workers’ compensation and occupational health and safety services firm. Thanks to Sam’s guidance, Profit Magazine confirmed Windley Ely as one of Canada’s fastest growing companies in 2005, 2006, 2007 and 2008. Sam has co-authored Financial Executives Institute of Canada: Workers’ Compensation in Canada.
Kirsty Ely, Paralegal, leads a team of WE specialists in representing some of the country’s best known retailers, Kirsty’s service level expectations together with her negotiation and mediation skill ensure her clients consistently lead their industry in occupational injury management.
Kristen Ferreira, Paralegal, joined Windley Ely in 1998 and immediately became an integral member of the team. As Office and HR Manager, Kristen’s key responsibilities include ensuring customer service levels exceed benchmarks, staff development is continuous and customer communications are current.
Stephen Hellsten is a lawyer practicing exclusively within the realm of workers’ compensation law with past employment experience at Nova Scotia’s Workers’ Compensation Board. Stephen is licensed by Ontario by the Law Society of Upper Canada; a member of the Nova Scotia Barristers’ Society; and a member of the Ontario Bar Association’s Workers’ Compensation Section. Stephen represents WE clients across Canada before Workers’ Compensation Board-Commission Appeal Divisions and external Workers’ Compensation Tribunals.
Don Morrison, Paralegal, has extensive previous workers’ compensation claims management experience with Ontario’s Workplace Safety and Insurance Board and in the private sector with Compass Group Canada. Don leads a team in partnership with several customers including Canada’s largest bakery chain (by market share) and a multinational world leader in supply chain management. Don is a key member in customer management overseeing customer care and service of a number of national accounts.
Marg Pettit, Paralegal, brings almost 30 years of workers’ compensation employment experience, including eight years as a Claims Adjudicator, and nine years as a Claims Training Specialist with Ontario’s Workplace Safety and Insurance Board, and ten years as a private sector claims consultant and trainer. Marg has an AIHA Certificate in Occupational Ergonomics Control of Work-Related Musculoskeletal Injuries, Physical Demands Analysis and Ergonomics and applies this expertise in the analysis of ergonomic issues arising during coordination of early and safe return to work programs and/or workplace accommodations.
