Dan Pompilii currently holds an Honours Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of Windsor, a Bachelor of Arts Degree from the University of Western and holds his Chartered Accounts designation. He did his articling with PWC before leaving for industry.
Dan has held multiple positions and titles over his 18 years in industry working with consumer-based businesses. His career has been focused on strategy development, planning and analysis, internal controls and financial reporting, as well as IT-related initiatives. Dan was the lead on multiple mergers and management buyouts during his career.
Previously Dan held the title of Vice President of Finance at Conference Cup (formerly a subdivision of the TDL Group). He was the lead on automation due to a change in unionized salaries, which lead to the decrease of staff of 20 percent and increase in productivity of 35 percent. Dan also worked with the new ownership group to implement SAP on the facility. Dan later went to Herbal Magic as the companies Chief Financial Officer. The company had just been purchased by a private equity group at the time and within 3 years were able to take the company from a $6 million to $20 million in EBITDA. Also during his time at Herbal Magic, they grew their franchise locations from 220 to 360. He was also the lead from the Company side on two sale transactions.
Dan’s previous position before joining Windley Ely was as Chief Financial Officer of Movati Athletic (formally known as The Athletic Club). Dan helped grow this fitness business from 7 locations and 7 million in EBITDA to 12 facilities and $19 million in EBITDA. He was also in charge of the Human Resource functions which employed 1,500 employees. During his last two years at Movati Athletic he was the lead for the management buyout. Dan was able to negotiate 3 separate financing deals which allowed the company to expand. Securing construction financing for their 80,000 square feet facilities allowed for the build of 5 facilities during his tenure there.
Barb has been with Windley Ely since 2005 and is an Account Manager in our Operations Division. She and her team manage the Workers’ Compensation program for several of Canada’s largest employers in the retail, construction and transportation industry. Her areas of expertise include complex claims management as well as advising on the impact of experience rating during transactions.
In addition, she oversees the administration of one of Canada’s largest retailers’ Health and Safety program including training on health and safety / injury reporting best practices, rollout of new policies and advising on Ministry of Labour issues. Prior to working at Windley Ely, Barb spent 13 years at the Workplace Safety and Insurance Board (WSIB) providing customer service to Employers and Workers on WSIB information as well as policy and procedures.
Lauren has been working with Windley Ely since 2008 and is a Manager in our Workers’ Compensation Claims Management Division. Lauren manages a team of claims specialists with a diverse clientele base, consisting of several of Canada’s largest employers in the retail, construction, transportation, warehousing and mining industries. Her areas of expertise include complex claims management, developing RTW processes and advising clients on the impact of experience ratings during transactions.
Roy is a senior member of the Windley Ely team, having handled workers’ compensation for employers and at the WSIB for over 30 years.
Roy commenced his experience in the Workers’ Compensation field in 1990 as a Claims Adjudicator with WSIB for four years, developing an investigative approach and a deep understanding of the application of law and policy. He then moved to private industry for 10 years with one of Canada’s largest contract catering companies, progressing from Claims Manager to National Director Occupational Health and Safety.
Roy has worked in WC Consulting for the last 16 years, managing teams of claim specialists and serving as a trusted advisor on complex claims, appeal representation and WC account management matters to a client base across all sectors.
Roy’s strengths include claims management, analyzing and developing RTW processes, WC financial risk (experience rating) analysis, including a comprehensive understanding of the intricacies of the Ontario WSIB New Rate Framework, classification and account structuring, Occupational Health and Safety, and accident investigation, all at a National level. Roy is also a licensed Paralegal.
Ryan Brookshaw currently holds his Honours Bachelor of Business Administration degree from Wilfrid Laurier University and holds his CPA Designation. Ryan joined Windley Ely in 2018, after spending three years with BDO working in Assurance, Financial reporting and tax fields. Ryan’s area of expertise are in financial reporting, forecasting and budgeting.
Don has been with Windley Ely since 2003. Since 2003, Don has managed a team of claim specialists with a diverse cliental base, including a multinational world leader in supply chain management and a Canadian leader in the logistics market. He has extensive workers’ compensation claims management experience with Ontario’s Workplace Safety & Insurance Board and in the private sector with Compass Group Canada.
Don’s experience consists of claims management, analyzing and developing RTW processes, experience rating analysis, reclassification issues, and account restructuring. Prior to working at Windley Ely, Don developed significant workers’ compensation experience while working at the Workplace Safety and Insurance Board (WSIB) and at Compass Group Canada. Don is a licensed Paralegal.
Alison is the Team Leader for the Absence Management accounts at Windley Ely. She has 10+ years of experience in the Insurance and Claims Management industry including work in Disability Management (both short term and long term) Medical terminology and translation, Quality Assurance, and Client Relationship Management. Most recently prior to Windley Ely, Alison worked as an Account Manager and Team Lead managing several national employer’s short term disability program. The team is able to leverage her broad base of knowledge and expertise in complex claims management, RTW process development, workplace accommodation, absence management, disability contract language, and customer service.
